The cell line was derived from a specific pathogen free (SPF) cat [U.S. Pat. 5,846,825].

Comments

The FeT-1C cell line (ATCC CRL-11968) is IL-2 dependent, whereas the FeT-J cell line (ATCC CRL-11967) is IL-2 independent [U.S. Pat. 5,846,825] This feline T-cell line is susceptible to infection by feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) [U.S. Pat. 5,846,825].


Complete Growth Medium RPMI 1640 medium with 2 mM L-glutamine adjusted to contain 1.5 g/L sodium bicarbonate, 4.5 g/L glucose, 10 mM HEPES, and 1.0 mM sodium pyruvate and supplemented with 0.05 mM 2-mercaptoethanol, 100 Units/ml human recombinant IL-2 and 10% heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum
Subculturing
Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension in fresh medium at 5 x 105 viable cells/mL. Maintain cultures at cell concentrations between 5 X 105 and 2 X 106 viable cells/mL.
